5 Tips on Disinfecting Your Home this Holiday Season

Given the increased restrictions that have been implemented across the country to stop the spread of COVID-19, it is completely understandable that you might be hesitant about making any plans to have family or friends over to celebrate the holiday. Fortunately for those of us who enjoy the twinkle and tinsel of the holiday season, there are steps that can be taken to ensure the safety of yourself and your guests in your home.

  1.  Plan

With everything that is currently happening in today’s world, maintaining a clean home has never been more vital. With current CDC guidelines it’s easy for us to have a solid plan regarding the cleanliness of our home, and it’s even more important to communicate your plan with your loved ones who hope to visit. Make a checklist to ensure you don’t miss any part of your home while getting ready for your family, and you’ll be in good shape when the day arrives. 

  1. Soap and Water

Washing high traffic areas like counters and tables is the first and best defense against COVID-19, as the soap molecule actually disrupts the virus membrane and renders the virus ineffective at transferal. Be sure to clean as much of these important surfaces as possible to prevent the spread of illness.

  1. Don’t Mix Chemicals

Be sure to only use one chemical cleaner at once when disinfecting your home. Certain chemicals can be deadly when combined, creating toxic gasses or corrosive materials on your surfaces and hands. For the safety of yourself and your loved ones, be careful how you clean and if you do mix chemicals, be sure not to store them in their mixed form.

  1. Be sure to follow EPA guidelines
